Hello Friends! I would like to share my experience of my first
journey to Shimla with my parents. In Delhi it was very hot weather,
therefore, we were planning to visit Shimla.
We started our journey on 15th June, 2013 at 2:00
a.m. and took a Taxi from R.K. Puram to Bikaner House, India Gate and from
Bikaner House we took a Volvo Bus for going to Shimla. The bus departed
at 4:00 a.m. from New Delhi and arrived in Chandigarh at 10:30 a.m. We
took some breakfast and again sat in the bus for the journey ahead. After
an hour halt at Chandigarh the bus departed from Chandigarh. It was a
very pleasant moment as the journey was with my parents. I clicked many
pictures from my camera, I was very happy for the same. Our bus
arrived at Shimla Bus Stand at 5:30 p.m. The Shimla bus stand is a multi
storied bus stand I was very surprised to see it. As it was raining that
day, we took a taxi and reached under the Mall Road. We took a lift and
reached our final destination “The Mehman Hotel”. It has an
amazing ambiance We asked the receptionist for our booking but
it was very surprising that there was no room booked on our name whereas we
booked the room five days ago. My father went in the search of available
rooms in hotels around and booked a room in the Atithi Hotel. We entered
the hotel and had some tea and snacks. I was very happy and I was dancing
there. After taking dinner we took rest and slept because we were tired
from the journey so far.
Next day we visited Mall Road, Ridge Road, Scandal Point. A
story behind the Scandal Point is that the King of Patiala had kidnapped
the daughter of Viceroy of India when she was walking on the Mall Road and took
her to the Chayal Palace. Since then this place is known as the Scandal
Point of Shimla.
I did horse riding on the Mall Road and I enjoyed my ride.
My mom and dad were very happy to see me on the horse. I also sat in a
toy helicopter and enjoyed very much.
The post office and the Scotland Church can also be seen just
behind the Scandal Point. Now, we all were very hungry and we
entered the Alfa Restaurant and had lunch. We ordered Chinese food and
enjoyed the cuisine to the last bite.
There were many traditional cloth shops; therefore, we purchased
shawls and socks for us. We also purchased some creative and unique
wooden house hold things from there. After shopping we took a jeep and
reached our hotel and took rest there. In the evening we were watching T.V. and
heard sad news that some mishappening has happened
in the Uttarakhand. We all were feeling sad after hearing this news. We
cancelled our onward journey otherwise we were planning to visit Manali, Sirmor
and Solan. Next day we took a taxi and visited Kufri. It was a nice
place and snow capped mountains can be seen in the month of
December-January. It is one of the attractive spots for tourist.
Many people were doing horse riding there. It was a cold day.
After twenty minutes we reached Chayal Palace. It was very cold in the
Chayal Palace. We took three tickets and entered the Palace. The
Chayal Palace can also be seen in many hindi films like 3 Idiots, Koi Mil Gaya
etc. We clicked many pictures in the Chayal Palace. After 15 – 20
minutes we sat in the taxi and reached Solan Bus Stand and we took a bus from
there and reached Chandigarh and we took a Volvo Bus from Chandigarh to
Delhi. We reached Delhi Bus Stand at 1:00 a.m. and took an auto rickshaw
and within half an hour we arrived at R.K. Puram. It was too late so we
slept.
It was my first journey and I am very happy to share my feelings
